A mixed use, new build development, James Langford Architects provided architectural input as part of a team under lead architects, Independent Architects from Stage 1 to 3, gaining planning permission in 2018.
The development comprised over 2,700sqft of retail space, 4,465sqft of office space and 10,925sqft of residential space arranged over 10 floors. The site has two distinct aspects: High Holborn with its busy street frontage, and Lincoln’s Inn Fields to the rear with its leafy gardens and tall trees.
The building sits within the Bloomsbury Conservation area, with the front taking its cues in terms of materiality from its neighbours with the use of Portland stone. The rear is formed by inset balconies with bronze metal and glass balustrades set within a Portland stone frame. Photo-voltaic panels on the roof and a communal heating strategy are proposed to help reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

Located within an existing building in the heart of Mayfair, James Langford Architects were asked to design new UK office headquarters for Swarovski in London.
The offices comprised over 7,000sqft and were arranged over two floors. The brief required a highly bespoke interior to serve as both an office for the London team, as well as a showroom for their design products and over 40 chandeliers!
The project was delivered within a very fast timeframe and required the co-ordination of many specialists, consultants and client personnel. The design enabled the products and chandeliers to be carefully positioned to maximise their impact and provide a vibrant and exciting space.
